Painted entirely on location inside St Pancras Station, this oil painting is titled from an extract of a John Betjeman poem that is engraved in the station concourse near to where the piece was painted. I was drawn to the contrast of the rushing individuals below compared to the solid motionless statue of the couple above. The station roof creates an arched framework for the piece. The sunlight was really interesting early afternoon when it would just catch the ornate brickwork of the far wall and spotlight the couple embracing.
