This in an unusual subject but the multilevel space, changing light and movement of traffic appealed to me. I was positioned half way up a dog-leg staircase leading up to the elevated Longton Railway Station lit by flickering yellow light. I started this piece 2 years previously when I was painting around Stoke-on-Trent with another en plein air painter – Roger Taylor. We can see Roger painting on the top level. I enjoy including the motif of an on-location painter whenever possible. I came back to finish this painting in winter 2011/12.
