Painting on the Rocks

Bormes les Mimosas, Early Afternoon

John was getting wet feet and kept on losing paintbrushes to the sea. We were reading about the Bloomsbury Group of painters in London who would regularly paint one another working. I am pleased with the feeling of movement and character in this study. There is a hint of Honoré Daumier’s caricature influence in this, whose work I adore.
