I wanted to capture the drama of looking up at the impressive façade of Shrewsbury Railway Station and castle and also relate it to the movement of the taxis and short term parking in front of station and the queuing traffic underneath the dark railway bridges on the left. The winter light meant I was often getting shafts of the low sun spotlighting the station façade and giving the stonework a golden quality. A passer-by informs me that this station is unusual because the Victorians extended the building downward by adding an additional story underneath.
