The Sunset painting

By Rob Pointon

The Sunset painting

The sun gets so low that it picks out the waves of ridges in the white sandy beach pushed up by footprints. Despite the ‘No dogs’ sign the locals have no problem with their dogs joining them for the spectacle, and a black Labrador takes centre stage. The light conditions were only right for less than an hour each day. One of my Grandmother’s few attempts at abstract painting ‘Sunburst’ was a surprising influence, as well as the ever-present Vincent Van Gogh.
