Sunrise with the Camels

By Rob Pointon

One of the first of the trip when the temperatures where at their highest. I tried to shift sleep patterns so that I was working at first light and evenings. These are camels in a pen alongside Soul Waqif, I think mainly kept for tourist rides.
They are fascinating animals to study, such unusual anatomy and expressions.
They are much more animated before sunrise and would soon settle to conserve their cool when the sun come up. They are quite long thin animals and would angle themselves so their long flanks never received the direct sunlight.
